Description

Crispy and flavorful Air Fryer Pickle Chips are a perfect snack or appetizer made by coating dill pickle slices in seasoned breadcrumbs and air frying them to golden perfection in just 30 minutes. This easy recipe offers a healthier alternative to deep frying, delivering a crunchy texture with a tangy twist.

Ingredients

Scale

Pickles

  • 24 oz. jar dill pickles (about 5-6 pickles)

Breading

  • ¼ cup flour (gluten-free 1-to-1 flour)
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 Tbsp. milk (oat, cashew, or soy)
  • 1 cup plain breadcrumbs
  • ½ tsp. paprika
  • ½ tsp. garlic powder
  • ¾ – 1 tsp. salt (to taste)
  • ¼ tsp. black pepper

For Cooking

  • Non-stick cooking spray

Instructions

  1. Slice Pickles: Cut the pickles into ¼-inch slices, discarding the ends to ensure uniform size for even cooking.
  2. Coat the Pickles: Set up three shallow bowls. In Bowl 1, place the flour. In Bowl 2, whisk together the egg and milk until well combined. In Bowl 3, mix the breadcrumbs with paprika, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Dip each pickle slice first into the flour, shaking off excess, then into the egg wash, and finally coat thoroughly with the breadcrumb mixture. Repeat for all slices.
  3. Cook in Air Fryer: Arrange half of the coated pickle slices in a single layer in a 6-quart air fryer basket. Lightly spray with non-stick cooking spray. Air fry at 400°F for 8-10 minutes, flipping the pickles halfway through to ensure even crispiness. Repeat this process with the remaining pickle slices.
  4. Serve: Serve the crispy air fried pickle chips hot alongside your favorite dips like Ranch Dressing, Special Sauce, or Sriracha Mayo for a delicious snack experience.

Notes

  • Ensure pickle slices are evenly cut to promote uniform cooking.
  • Adjust salt according to your taste preference, especially if pickles are already quite salty.
  • Use gluten-free flour and breadcrumbs to make this recipe gluten-free.
  • For extra crispiness, you can double-coat the pickles by repeating the egg and breadcrumb steps.
  • Serve immediately for the best texture as they can lose crispiness if left to sit.
