Description

This creamy Avocado Ranch Dressing and Dip combines fresh avocado with classic ranch flavors, creating a healthy and delicious condiment perfect for salads, veggies, or as a dipping sauce. Made with low-fat buttermilk, sour cream, and mayonnaise, it offers a smooth and tangy taste with a hint of cilantro and a touch of heat from Tabasco sauce.

Ingredients

Scale

Avocado Ranch Dressing and Dip Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup low-fat buttermilk
  • 4 Tbsp sour cream
  • 3 Tbsp mayonnaise
  • 1/2 large avocado (or 1 smaller avocado)
  • 1 Tbsp cilantro
  • 1/2 tsp Dijon mustard (Grey Poupon brand)
  • 1/2 tsp Tabasco sauce
  • 1 garlic clove (minced or pressed)
  • 3/4 tsp salt (sea salt preferred, or to taste)
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper

Instructions

  1. Combine Ingredients: Add the low-fat buttermilk, sour cream, mayonnaise, avocado, cilantro, Dijon mustard, Tabasco sauce, garlic, salt, and black pepper into a food processor.
  2. Blend to Smooth: Pulse the mixture to combine the ingredients initially, then blend continuously until smooth, scraping down the sides of the bowl occasionally to ensure an even consistency.
  3. Season to Taste and Serve: Taste the dressing and add more salt or pepper if desired. Serve immediately as a dip or salad dressing. Store any unused portion in a small airtight container with minimal air exposure in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.

Notes

  • Use ripe avocado for the creamiest texture and best flavor.
  • Adjust the amount of Tabasco sauce for preferred spice level.
  • Refrigerate leftover dressing promptly and consume within 3 days.
  • This recipe works well as both a salad dressing and a dip for vegetables or chips.
  • Scraping down the bowl during blending ensures a smooth and even consistency.
