Description

This quick and flavorful Beef and Noodles recipe combines tender sirloin steak with savory soy-based sauces and perfectly cooked ramen noodles. Easy to prepare in under 30 minutes, it’s a delicious weeknight meal full of bold Asian-inspired flavors and a satisfying mix of textures.

Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients

  • 1/2 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1/2 medium onion, sliced
  • 3/4 to 1 pound sirloin steak or tenderloin, sliced into thin strips
  • 3 packages ramen noodles, seasoning packets discarded

Sauce Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons hoisin sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sriracha sauce
  • 1 teaspoon toasted sesame oil
  • Juice of 1/2 lime
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon water

Instructions

  1. Boil the noodles: Start by bringing a large pot of water to a boil for the ramen noodles.
  2. Sauté the onions: While waiting for the water to boil, heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Add the sliced onion and cook, stirring frequently, until lightly browned, about 6 to 8 minutes.
  3. Cook the noodles: When ready to add the meat, drop the ramen noodles into the boiling water. They will cook quickly, approximately 3 minutes.
  4. Cook the steak: Add the thin strips of sirloin steak to the skillet with the onions. Cook for 2 to 3 minutes, stirring often, until the steak reaches your preferred doneness (medium to medium-rare is recommended).
  5. Add the sauce: Stir in the soy sauce, hoisin sauce, sriracha, toasted sesame oil, lime juice, minced garlic, and water directly into the skillet. Mix well and adjust heat if the sauce starts to bubble too vigorously.
  6. Combine noodles and serve: Drain the cooked ramen noodles and transfer them to the skillet. Toss everything together until the noodles are nicely coated with the sauce, then serve immediately while hot.

Notes

  • For a spicier dish, increase the amount of sriracha sauce to taste.
  • Use tenderloin instead of sirloin for a more tender texture, though it will increase the cost.
  • If gluten is a concern, substitute ramen noodles and soy sauce with gluten-free alternatives.
  • Prepare all sauce ingredients ahead of time to avoid overcooking the steak when adding sauces.
  • Leftovers can be refrigerated and reheated, although noodles are best enjoyed fresh for optimal texture.
