Ingredients
Scale
Beef and Sauce
- 1 lb. flank steak (thinly sliced)
- 1 cup homemade teriyaki sauce
Vegetables
- 1 red bell pepper (cut into 2-3 inch slices)
- 1 small head broccoli (cut into bite-sized florets)
- 2-3 carrots (peeled and cut into ¼-½ inch slices)
- 1 small red onion (cut into 2-3 inch slices)
Other Ingredients
- 2 Tbsp. olive oil
- ½ – ¾ tsp. salt
- ¼ tsp. black pepper
- Green onions (optional, for garnish)
- Toasted sesame seeds (optional, for garnish)
- White rice or cauliflower rice (optional, for serving)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven. Set your oven to 400°F (200°C) to prepare for baking the foil packets.
- Prepare the teriyaki sauce. If making homemade teriyaki sauce, prepare it according to your recipe to ensure fresh, flavorful sauce for the dish.
- Slice the flank steak. Cut the flank steak thinly, about ¼-inch slices, slicing against the grain for tenderness.
- Toss the vegetables. In a large bowl, combine the sliced red bell pepper, broccoli florets, carrots, and red onion. Drizzle with olive oil, then season with salt and black pepper. Toss everything to coat evenly.
- Prepare foil packets. Tear off four pieces of aluminum foil, each about 15-16 inches long, to hold individual servings.
- Assemble beef and vegetables. Place 4 ounces of the sliced flank steak in the center of each foil piece. Add an even portion of the tossed vegetables on top of the steak.
- Add teriyaki sauce. Pour 2 tablespoons of teriyaki sauce over the vegetables in each packet, reserving the remaining ½ cup of sauce for later.
- Seal the packets. Bring the top and bottom edges of the foil together and twist tightly to seal. Then fold the left and right sides towards the middle and pinch firmly to form secure packets that will trap steam during cooking.
- Bake the packets. Place the foil packets on a baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, until the beef reaches your preferred level of doneness and the vegetables are tender-crisp.
- Brush with remaining sauce. Remove the packets from the oven and carefully brush the tops with the reserved teriyaki sauce to add an extra layer of flavor.
- Broil for finishing touch. Open the packets slightly and return them to the oven under a high broil for 2-3 minutes to caramelize the sauce and create a flavorful glaze on top.
- Serve and garnish. Serve the beef teriyaki foil packets hot, over white rice or cauliflower rice as preferred. Garnish with chopped green onions and toasted sesame seeds for extra color and flavor. Enjoy your flavorful, convenient meal!
