Description

This delicious Breakfast Pizza combines a crispy pizza crust topped with flavorful pizza sauce, melted mozzarella cheese, savory cooked sausage, and perfectly baked eggs. It’s an easy and satisfying way to start your day with classic breakfast flavors on a pizza base.

Ingredients

Scale

Pizza Base

  • 13 oz Pizza dough (homemade or store bought)

Toppings

  • 1/2 cup pizza sauce
  • 1 & 1/2 cups mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup cooked sausage (mild or spicy)
  • 4 eggs

Garnish

  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley (chopped)
  • Salt and pepper (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat and Prepare Pan: Preheat your oven to 450°F. Grease a pizza pan to ensure the dough doesn’t stick during baking.
  2. Shape Dough: Spread the pizza dough evenly into a 12 or 14-inch round shape on the prepared pizza pan, creating the base for your pizza.
  3. Add Sauce: Spread 1/2 cup of pizza sauce evenly over the dough. You can add more sauce if you prefer a saucier pizza.
  4. Sprinkle Cheese: Generously sprinkle 1 & 1/2 cups of mozzarella over the sauce, leaving four distinct open spaces where the eggs will be added later.
  5. Distribute Sausage: Evenly scatter the cooked sausage over the cheese, avoiding the reserved spots for the eggs to prevent overlap.
  6. First Bake: Place the pizza pan into the oven and bake the pizza for 10 minutes to allow the cheese to melt and the crust to begin cooking.
  7. Add Eggs: Carefully crack one egg into each of the four open spaces on the pizza to keep them intact for baking.
  8. Final Bake: Return the pizza to the oven and bake for an additional 6 minutes, allowing the eggs to cook to your desired doneness.
  9. Finish and Serve: Remove the pizza from the oven. Season with salt and pepper if desired, sprinkle with chopped fresh parsley, slice, and serve immediately.

Notes

  • You can use homemade or store-bought pizza dough based on your preference or time availability.
  • Cook the sausage thoroughly prior to adding it to the pizza; mild or spicy varieties work well.
  • If you prefer firmer or runnier eggs, adjust the second baking time accordingly.
  • Fresh parsley adds a nice color and fresh flavor but can be omitted if unavailable.
  • For a crispier crust, you may bake the dough a few minutes before adding toppings.
