Ingredients
Scale
Fritter Ingredients
- 1 medium head cauliflower (about 4 cups florets)
- 2 large eggs
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/3 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley or dill
For Frying
- Oil for frying (vegetable or canola oil)
Instructions
- Prepare Cauliflower: Steam or boil cauliflower florets until fork-tender, then cool slightly and chop into smaller pieces to form the base of the fritter mixture.
- Mix Ingredients: In a mixing bowl, combine the chopped cauliflower, eggs, all-purpose flour, grated Parmesan cheese, minced garlic, salt, black pepper, and chopped fresh parsley or dill. Mix well to form a batter-like consistency.
- Form Patties: Shape the mixture into small patties. If the mixture is too loose, adjust the consistency by adding more flour or an extra egg as needed to hold the patties together.
- Heat Oil: Pour vegetable or canola oil into a skillet to a depth of about 1/4 inch and heat over medium heat until hot but not smoking.
- Cook Fritters: Fry the patties in the hot oil for 3 to 4 minutes on each side until they turn golden brown and crispy on the outside. Work in batches to avoid overcrowding the pan.
- Drain and Serve: Transfer cooked fritters to a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil. Serve warm with your favorite dips or toppings.
Notes
- You can steam cauliflower in a steamer basket or boil until soft; make sure it is not watery when forming the batter.
- Use fresh herbs like parsley or dill to enhance flavor, or substitute with your preferred herbs.
- Adjust the pan heat as needed to prevent burning while ensuring the fritters cook through.
- These fritters are best enjoyed fresh but can be reheated in a toaster oven for crispiness.
