Ingredients
Scale
Dry Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 2 tsp baking powder
- 2 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp salt
Wet Ingredients
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter (melted)
- 2 large eggs
- 1/2 cup milk
Glaze
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- Milk (enough for drizzling, about 1-2 tbsp)
Instructions
- Preheat and Prepare: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13 inch baking dish to prevent sticking.
- Mix Dry Ingredients: In a large bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, ground cinnamon, and salt, ensuring an even distribution of all the dry components.
- Combine Wet Ingredients: In a separate bowl, mix the melted unsalted butter, eggs, and milk thoroughly until smooth.
- Combine Mixtures: Pour the wet mixture into the bowl with the dry ingredients and stir gently until just combined to avoid overmixing, which could make the bars tough.
- Layer the Batter: Pour half of the batter into the prepared baking dish and spread evenly. Optionally sprinkle with extra cinnamon sugar for a stronger cinnamon flavor. Pour the remaining batter on top and use a knife to swirl the layers together, creating a marbled effect.
- Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until the bars turn golden brown and a toothpick inserted near the center comes out clean. Remove from oven and allow to cool for about 10 minutes.
- Prepare and Add Glaze: While cooling, mix powdered sugar with vanilla extract and enough milk to create a smooth, pourable glaze. Drizzle this over the warm bars for a sweet finishing touch.
Notes
- For extra cinnamon flavor, sprinkle additional cinnamon sugar between the layers.
- Ensure not to overmix the batter to keep bars tender.
- Allow bars to cool slightly before glazing to prevent the glaze from melting too much.
- These bars can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
