Description

This delightful Coffee Jelly recipe combines the rich, bold flavor of coffee with a smooth, jiggly gelatin texture, creating a refreshing and unique dessert. Perfect for coffee lovers looking for a light and chilled treat, the coffee jelly cubes are served with warm milk and a touch of sweet white chocolate syrup for a creamy finish.

Ingredients

Scale

Gelatin Mixture

  • 1 package Unflavored Gelatin (Knox preferred)
  • 3 cups Warm Water
  • 3 tablespoons Instant Coffee
  • 3/4 cup Sugar

Serving

  • 1 teaspoon White Chocolate Syrup (Torani recommended)
  • 1 cup Warm Milk

Instructions

  1. Bloom the Gelatin: In a small dish, pour the warm water and sprinkle the unflavored gelatin evenly over the surface. Stir well to combine and let the mixture sit for about 20 minutes. This allows the gelatin to absorb the water fully in a process called ‘blooming’, which is crucial for achieving the right texture.
  2. Prepare Coffee Jelly Base: After the gelatin has bloomed, add the sugar and instant coffee powder to the gelatin mixture. Stir thoroughly until both the sugar and coffee powders are completely dissolved, resulting in a smooth coffee-flavored liquid.
  3. Set the Jelly: Pour the coffee gelatin mixture into a 9 x 11-inch dish and place it in the refrigerator. Chill until the gelatin is fully set and firm to the touch, similar to the consistency of Jello, which usually takes a few hours.
  4. Cut the Jelly Cubes: Once set, remove the jelly from the fridge and use a butter knife to cut it into small, bite-sized cubes for easy serving.
  5. Serve with Milk and Syrup: Fill an 8-ounce glass halfway with the coffee jelly cubes, pour warm milk over them, and add the white chocolate syrup. Stir gently until the syrup dissolves into the milk, then serve immediately and enjoy this creamy, chilled coffee dessert.

Notes

  • You can substitute warm milk with almond or oat milk for a dairy-free version, though it will slightly change the flavor.
  • Adjust the sugar and coffee amounts to your personal preference to make the jelly more or less sweet and caffeinated.
  • Ensure the milk is warm but not boiling to avoid melting the jelly cubes too quickly when serving.
  • For a firmer jelly, consider adding an extra half package of gelatin.
  • This dessert is best served fresh but can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
