Ingredients
Scale
Cheese Bites:
- 8 ounces mozzarella cheese (cut into 1-inch cubes)
Breading:
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 large eggs (beaten)
- 1 cup Italian-style breadcrumbs
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
For Frying:
- Vegetable oil (for frying)
Instructions
- Prepare the Cheese: Place the cheese cubes on a baking sheet and freeze for 20–30 minutes to help them hold their shape while frying.
- Set Up Breading Station: Prepare three shallow bowls with flour, beaten eggs, and a mixture of breadcrumbs, Parmesan, garlic powder, and oregano.
- Coat the Cheese: Dredge each cheese cube in flour, dip into the egg, and coat with the breadcrumb mixture. Freeze coated cheese bites for an additional 10–15 minutes.
- Fry the Cheese: Heat vegetable oil in a skillet to 350°F. Fry cheese bites in batches for 1–2 minutes until golden brown. Drain on paper towels.
- Serve: Enjoy hot with marinara or ranch dipping sauce.
Notes
- You can substitute mozzarella with cheddar, pepper jack, or a mix of cheeses.
- Freezing before frying helps prevent cheese from melting too quickly and leaking out.
- Best served fresh; reheat in an air fryer for a few minutes to restore crispiness.
