Puff Pastry:
- 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
Figs:
- 6 fresh figs, sliced
Goat Cheese:
- 4 oz goat cheese, softened
Honey and Chili Flakes Drizzle:
- 1 tablespoon honey (plus more for drizzling)
- 1/4 teaspoon crushed red chili flakes
Egg Wash:
- 1 egg, beaten
Seasoning:
- 1 teaspoon fresh thyme leaves (optional)
- pinch of sea salt
Instructions
- Preheat the Oven: Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Prepare Pastry: Roll out the puff pastry on a lightly floured surface and cut into 6 equal rectangles. Place on the baking sheet and score a border around each piece.
- Make Cheese Mixture: Mix softened goat cheese with honey and salt. Spread within the borders of each pastry.
- Assemble Tarts: Arrange fig slices over the goat cheese. Brush pastry edges with beaten egg.
- Bake: Bake for 15–18 minutes until golden and puffed.
- Finish: Drizzle with honey, sprinkle chili flakes and thyme. Serve warm or at room temperature.
Notes
- For extra richness, add walnuts or balsamic glaze.
- Best served the same day.
- Dried figs can be used if fresh are unavailable.
