Description

Puff Pastry:

  • 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed

Figs:

  • 6 fresh figs, sliced

Goat Cheese:

  • 4 oz goat cheese, softened

Honey and Chili Flakes Drizzle:

  • 1 tablespoon honey (plus more for drizzling)
  • 1/4 teaspoon crushed red chili flakes

Egg Wash:

  • 1 egg, beaten

Seasoning:

  • 1 teaspoon fresh thyme leaves (optional)
  • pinch of sea salt


Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven: Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Prepare Pastry: Roll out the puff pastry on a lightly floured surface and cut into 6 equal rectangles. Place on the baking sheet and score a border around each piece.
  3. Make Cheese Mixture: Mix softened goat cheese with honey and salt. Spread within the borders of each pastry.
  4. Assemble Tarts: Arrange fig slices over the goat cheese. Brush pastry edges with beaten egg.
  5. Bake: Bake for 15–18 minutes until golden and puffed.
  6. Finish: Drizzle with honey, sprinkle chili flakes and thyme. Serve warm or at room temperature.

Notes

  • For extra richness, add walnuts or balsamic glaze.
  • Best served the same day.
  • Dried figs can be used if fresh are unavailable.
