Ingredients
Scale
Marinade
- ½ cup extra virgin olive oil
- 1 clove garlic, grated
- ¼ cup chopped fresh herbs (such as basil, oregano, parsley, thyme)
- ½ tsp sea salt
- ¼ tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
Mozzarella
- 16 oz mozzarella pearls or sliced mozzarella
Instructions
- Prepare the marinade. In a medium jar or measuring cup, combine the extra virgin olive oil, grated garlic, chopped fresh herbs, sea salt, and red pepper flakes (if using). Mix or shake well to blend all the flavors thoroughly.
- Coat the mozzarella. Pour the prepared herb-infused olive oil over the mozzarella pearls or slices. Gently stir or toss so each piece is evenly coated with the flavorful marinade.
- Marinate. Cover the container with a lid or plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least one hour to allow the mozzarella to absorb the herbs and seasoning.
- Serve. Remove from the refrigerator and serve the marinated mozzarella alongside crackers or toasted crostini as a delicious appetizer or snack.
Notes
- Use a good quality extra virgin olive oil for the best flavor impact.
- Fresh herbs such as basil, oregano, parsley, and thyme work beautifully; feel free to mix and match according to your preference.
- The red pepper flakes add a subtle kick but can be omitted for a milder taste.
- Marinate the mozzarella for longer than one hour if time permits for more intense flavor—up to 8 hours is ideal.
- Store leftovers covered in the refrigerator and consume within 3 days for optimal freshness.
