Description

Homemade Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups are a delightful, no-bake treat combining creamy peanut butter layered with rich melted chocolate and a subtle crunch from graham cracker crumbs. Perfect for a sweet snack or dessert, these cups offer a homemade twist on a classic candy favorite, requiring minimal ingredients and simple steps.

Ingredients

Scale

Peanut Butter Layer

  • ⅔ cup creamy peanut butter
  • ½ cup powdered sugar
  • ¼ cup graham cracker crumbs
  • ⅛ teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 pinch of salt (optional)

Chocolate Layer

  • 1 12-oz. bag chocolate chips (milk or semisweet)

Instructions

  1. Puree Crackers: Process the graham crackers in a food processor until they become fine crumbs, which adds a subtle crunch and texture to the peanut butter filling.
  2. Make Peanut Butter Layer: In a large bowl, mix the creamy peanut butter, powdered sugar, graham cracker crumbs, vanilla extract, and salt (if using) until well combined, forming a smooth, thick filling.
  3. Make Chocolate Layer: Place the chocolate chips in a medium-sized microwave-safe bowl. Melt the chocolate in the microwave for 2 minutes, stirring every 30 seconds to ensure it melts evenly and doesn’t burn.
  4. Fill Muffin Cups: Line a 12-cup muffin tray with cupcake liners. Add about ½ tablespoon of melted chocolate to the bottom of each liner and spread it to cover completely. Spoon a tablespoon of the peanut butter mixture on top of the chocolate layer, spreading it to form a circle and gently pressing it down. Finally, add another ½ tablespoon of melted chocolate on top to seal the peanut butter, smoothing the surface.
  5. Chill and Serve: Refrigerate the filled cups for 1-2 hours or until the chocolate hardens completely. Once set, enjoy the homemade Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups as a delicious treat.

Notes

  • You can substitute milk chocolate chips with semisweet or dark chocolate for a richer flavor.
  • Using creamy peanut butter gives the best texture; chunky peanut butter may alter the consistency.
  • Make sure to stir the chocolate thoroughly while melting to avoid burning and maintain a smooth texture.
  • Store leftover peanut butter cups in an airtight container in the refrigerator to keep them firm and fresh.
  • If you don’t have a food processor, place the graham crackers in a sealed plastic bag and crush them finely with a rolling pin.
