Description

This Honey Garlic Shrimps, Sausage, and Broccoli recipe offers a delightful combination of tender shrimp, savory sausage, and crisp broccoli florets coated in a sweet and savory honey garlic sauce. Perfect for a quick and flavorful weeknight meal, this dish is easy to prepare in just 25 minutes, combining sautéing and simmering techniques to create a balanced and satisfying entree.

Ingredients

Scale

Seafood and Meat

  • 1 lb shrimp (peeled and deveined)
  • 8 oz chicken or turkey sausage (sliced)

Vegetables

  • 2 cups fresh broccoli florets
  • 4 cloves garlic (minced)

Sauce and Seasoning

  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 2 tbsp low-sodium soy sauce
  • 1 tsp fresh ginger (grated)
  • 2 tbsp olive oil

Instructions

  1. Prepare Ingredients: Gather all ingredients and if the shrimp is frozen, make sure to thaw it completely before cooking to ensure even cooking.
  2. Cook Sausage: Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the sliced sausage and cook until browned, about 5 minutes. Once browned, remove sausage from the skillet and set aside.
  3. Sauté Broccoli: Add another tablespoon of olive oil to the same skillet if needed. Add the broccoli florets and sauté for approximately 3 minutes, until they turn bright green but remain crisp.
  4. Cook Shrimp and Garlic: Add the shrimp and minced garlic to the skillet with the broccoli. Cook for about 2 minutes per side or until the shrimp turns pink and opaque. Then stir in the grated fresh ginger.
  5. Add Sauce: Pour the honey and low-sodium soy sauce over the shrimp, broccoli, and garlic mixture. Stir gently to combine all ingredients. Allow the mixture to simmer for a couple of minutes so that everything is well-coated and the flavors meld.
  6. Combine and Serve: Return the cooked sausage to the skillet. Mix everything well and cook for an additional minute to warm through. Serve hot immediately.

Notes

  • You can substitute chicken or turkey sausage with your preferred sausage type or use a vegetarian sausage to adapt the recipe.
  • For gluten-free options, ensure soy sauce is gluten-free or replace with tamari sauce.
  • Adjust honey quantity for more or less sweetness according to taste.
  • To add a bit of spice, consider adding chili flakes or a splash of hot sauce during the sauce step.
  • Serve this dish over cooked rice or noodles for a complete meal.
