Ingredients
Scale
Salmon
- 24 oz salmon filet, boneless and skinless, cut into 6 pieces (4 oz each)
- 1/2 tsp sea salt, or to taste
- 1/8 tsp black pepper, or to taste
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
Glaze & Cooking
- 2 Tbsp light olive oil (or any high-heat cooking oil)
- 1/4 cup honey
- 2 Tbsp soy sauce
- 1 lime, cut into wedges
- 1 Tbsp chives, chopped for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Make the glaze: In a measuring cup, combine 1/4 cup honey and 2 Tbsp soy sauce. Stir until well combined and set aside.
- Prepare the salmon: Season both sides of the salmon fillets with sea salt and black pepper. Pour 1/4 cup flour into a shallow plate and dredge both sides of salmon in the flour, shaking off any excess to ensure a light coating.
- Heat the pan: Place a large non-stick pan over medium heat and add 2 Tbsp light olive oil. Allow the oil to heat sufficiently until shimmering but not smoking.
- Cook the salmon with glaze: Brush the first side of each salmon piece generously with half of the prepared honey-soy glaze. Carefully add the salmon to the hot pan glaze-side down. Immediately brush the uncovered side with the remaining glaze. Sauté the salmon on the first side for 3 minutes, then flip and cook the second side for another 3 minutes. The glaze will caramelize, and the salmon should be opaque and just cooked through when flaked.
- Serve: Remove salmon from the pan. Squeeze fresh lime juice over the top to add brightness and garnish with chopped chives if desired. Serve immediately for best flavor.
Notes
- Use skinless and boneless salmon for even cooking and ease of eating.
- Be careful not to overcook the salmon to maintain moistness and flakiness.
- The flour dredging helps create a light crust that holds the glaze well.
- If you prefer a thicker glaze, you can reduce the honey and soy sauce mixture slightly in a pan before brushing.
- Light olive oil or any high-smoke point oil is recommended to prevent burning during searing.
- Garnishing with fresh chives and lime adds a lovely fresh contrast to the rich salmon.
