Ingredients
Scale
Turkey Burger Mixture
- 1 lb Ground Turkey (the lean protein base)
- 1/4 cup Almond Flour (acts as a binding agent)
- 1 small Onion (finely minced)
- 2 cloves Garlic (freshly minced)
- 1 tsp Salt (adjust according to taste)
- 1/2 tsp Black Pepper (provides a gentle kick)
- 1 tsp Cumin (adds warmth)
Filling
- 8 oz Cream Cheese (ensure creamy filling)
- 1 cup Cheddar Cheese (for a sharp flavor)
- 2 medium Jalapeño Peppers (freshly chopped)
Toppings and Finishing
- 1 tbsp Olive Oil (brush for grilling)
- 4 slices Bacon (optional topping)
- 4 leaves Lettuce (for wrapping)
Instructions
- Prepare the filling: In a bowl, combine the cream cheese, cheddar cheese, and freshly chopped jalapeño peppers. Mix thoroughly to create a spicy, creamy jalapeño popper filling that will inject rich flavor inside the burgers.
- Make the burger mixture: In a separate large bowl, mix the ground turkey, almond flour, finely minced onion, minced garlic, salt, black pepper, and cumin until well combined. The almond flour helps bind the ingredients and keeps the burgers juicy.
- Form the patties: Divide the turkey mixture into 8 equal portions. Flatten each portion into a small patty. Place a generous spoonful of the jalapeño cream cheese mixture onto four patties. Top with the remaining four patties, pressing the edges securely to seal the filling inside completely.
- Cook the bacon (optional): Fry or bake the 4 slices of bacon until crispy, then set aside on paper towels to drain excess fat.
- Grill the burgers: Preheat a grill or grill pan over medium heat. Lightly brush the patties with olive oil to prevent sticking and to enhance browning. Grill the stuffed turkey burgers for about 8 minutes per side, or until fully cooked through and the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
- Assemble and serve: Once grilled, place each burger on a leaf of fresh lettuce (or a bun if preferred). Top with crispy bacon slices if desired. Serve immediately to enjoy the warm, melty filling and juicy turkey patty.
Notes
- You can adjust the level of heat by using fewer jalapeños or removing the seeds before chopping.
- For a gluten-free option, ensure the almond flour brand is certified gluten-free.
- Use ground turkey breast for the leanest option or dark meat blended for a juicier burger.
- These burgers can be cooked on a stovetop grill pan if a backyard grill is not available.
- To prevent the filling from leaking, make sure to seal the edges of the patties firmly.
- Serve with your favorite burger sides like sweet potato fries or a fresh salad for a complete meal.
