Description

These Oreo Layered Halloween Brownies combine rich, fudgy brownie batter with festive orange-filled Oreo cookies and colorful frostings to create a spooky and delicious treat perfect for Halloween celebrations. The brownies are baked with a layer of Oreos on top, then decorated with vibrant orange frosting and chocolate frosting crowned with Oreo crumbles for a fun, layered dessert experience.

Ingredients

Scale

Brownie Batter

  • 1 Brownie Mix (standard box mix, about 18 oz)
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/3 cup oil (vegetable or canola)
  • 1/3 cup milk

Decorations and Frostings

  • 1 package Oreo cookies with orange filling (approx. 14.3 oz, about 36 cookies)
  • 1 can (16 oz) Milk chocolate frosting
  • 1 can (16 oz) White or Vanilla frosting
  • Orange food coloring gel (approximately 1-2 teaspoons)

Instructions

  1. Mix Batter: In the mixing bowl of a stand mixer, combine the brownie mix, eggs, oil, and milk. Using the whisk attachment, blend on medium speed until the ingredients are fully incorporated and the batter is smooth.
  2. Prepare Pan: Line the bottom of a 9×9 inch baking pan with parchment paper to prevent sticking. Pour the brownie batter evenly into the prepared pan and spread to the edges.
  3. Add Oreos: Arrange the Oreo cookies with orange filling evenly on top of the brownie batter until the surface is covered.
  4. Bake Brownies: Place the pan in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) and bake for 25 to 30 minutes, until the brownies are set and a toothpick inserted near the center comes out with moist crumbs but no wet batter.
  5. Cool Brownies: Remove the pan from the oven and allow the brownies to cool completely at room temperature before frosting.
  6. Prepare Orange Frosting: While the brownies cool, take the white or vanilla frosting and place in a bowl. Carefully remove the orange cream filling from about 10 Oreo cookies and add it to the frosting. Add 1 teaspoon of orange food coloring gel and mix thoroughly.
  7. Adjust Color: If the orange frosting color is not bright enough, add additional orange food coloring gel a little at a time until the desired vibrant orange shade is achieved.
  8. First Frosting Layer: When the brownies have fully cooled, spread the orange frosting evenly over the top. Place the frosted brownies in the refrigerator for about 30 minutes to set the frosting.
  9. Second Frosting Layer & Oreo Crumble: Remove the brownies from the refrigerator and spread the milk chocolate frosting evenly over the orange layer. Then crumble the remaining Oreo cookies and sprinkle the crumbles on top of the chocolate frosting to finish decoration.
  10. Cut and Serve: Using a sharp knife, cut the brownies into 3 x 2-inch squares, yielding approximately 24 pieces. Serve immediately and enjoy your festive Halloween treat!

Notes

  • Line the baking pan with parchment paper for easy removal of brownies.
  • Be sure brownies are completely cooled before frosting to prevent melting and slipping of the frosting layers.
  • Adjust the amount of orange food coloring to achieve your preferred Halloween-themed vibrant orange color.
  • For best results, use Oreo cookies with orange filling to enhance the festive look.
  • Store leftover brownies in an airtight container in the refrigerator to keep frostings fresh.
