Ingredients
Scale
Filling
- 8 ounces feta cheese, crumbled
- 2 tablespoons cream cheese, softened
- 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley
- 1 tablespoon chopped fresh dill
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- Pinch of salt
Phyllo Rolls
- 8 sheets phyllo dough, thawed
- Additional olive oil for brushing
- Non-stick cooking spray
Chili Honey Drizzle
- 1/4 cup honey
- 1–2 teaspoons chili flakes (adjust to taste)
Instructions
- Preheat Oven and Prepare Baking Sheet: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper to ensure easy cleanup and prevent sticking.
- Make the Filling: In a mixing bowl, combine the crumbled feta cheese, softened cream cheese, chopped parsley, chopped dill, 2 tablespoons of olive oil, and a pinch of salt. Mix thoroughly until the mixture is smooth and well blended.
- Prepare the Phyllo Sheets: Lay one sheet of thawed phyllo dough flat on a clean surface. Brush it lightly with olive oil. Place a second phyllo sheet on top and brush it with olive oil as well. This layering ensures a crisp and golden crust when baked.
- Cut and Fill Phyllo: Cut the layered phyllo sheets into three equal vertical strips. Spoon about 1 tablespoon of the feta filling at the bottom of each strip. Carefully roll up each strip like a cigar, folding in the sides as you roll to enclose the filling securely.
- Arrange Rolls on Baking Sheet: Place each rolled phyllo seam-side down on the prepared baking sheet. Lightly spray or brush the rolls with more olive oil to help them crisp and brown evenly during baking.
- Bake Rolls: Bake in the preheated oven for 18 to 20 minutes or until the phyllo is golden brown, crispy, and flaky.
- Prepare Chili Honey: While the rolls bake, warm the honey and chili flakes together in a small saucepan over low heat for 2 to 3 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld and the honey to become easy to drizzle.
- Serve: Remove the baked rolls from the oven and let them cool slightly. Drizzle the warm chili honey over the rolls before serving for a sweet and spicy finish.
Notes
- You can prepare the rolls ahead of time and bake them just before serving to save time.
- Adding a pinch of lemon zest to the filling provides a bright, citrus note that complements the cheeses.
- Use gluten-free phyllo dough if you need to accommodate gluten sensitivities.
