Description

Delightfully light and elegant Pear Tea Sandwiches featuring thinly sliced ripe pear layered with a smooth, honey-cinnamon cream cheese spread on soft white or whole grain bread. Perfect for afternoon tea or brunch, these no-cook sandwiches are subtly sweet, creamy, and garnished with optional chopped nuts for added texture.

Ingredients

Scale

Sandwich Assembly

  • 8 slices soft white or whole grain sandwich bread, crusts removed
  • 1 ripe pear, thinly sliced
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon finely chopped walnuts or pecans (optional)

Cream Cheese Spread

  • 4 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • ¼ teaspoon ground cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Prepare Cream Cheese Spread: In a small bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, honey, and ground cinnamon. Stir until the mixture is smooth and well blended.
  2. Toss Pear Slices: Place the thinly sliced pear in another bowl and gently toss with the lemon juice to prevent browning and maintain fresh flavor.
  3. Assemble Sandwiches: Spread a thin, even layer of the honey-cinnamon cream cheese mixture on each bread slice. On half of the slices, arrange pear slices in a slightly overlapping fashion. Sprinkle the chopped nuts over the pear slices if using.
  4. Complete Sandwiches: Top the pear-covered slices with the remaining bread slices spread side down, forming sandwiches. Gently press together to secure.
  5. Slice and Serve: Cut each sandwich into halves or quarters according to your preference. Serve immediately for the freshest taste, or cover with a damp paper towel and refrigerate until ready to serve.

Notes

  • For a more elegant presentation, substitute white or whole grain bread with thinly sliced brioche or pumpernickel bread.
  • These sandwiches pair beautifully with black or herbal teas, making them ideal for brunches or afternoon tea parties.
  • If preparing ahead, keep covered and refrigerated with a damp paper towel to maintain moisture and freshness.
  • Chopped nuts add a delightful crunch, but can be omitted for a nut-free option.
