Ground Beef Mixture:
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 small yellow onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- 1/2 cup pizza sauce or marinara
- 1/4 cup diced pepperoni
- 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
Additional Ingredients:
- 4 hamburger buns, toasted
- Extra mozzarella and pepperoni slices for topping (optional)
Instructions
- Heat olive oil: In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat.
- Cook onion and garlic: Add diced onion and cook until softened. Stir in garlic and cook for 30 seconds.
- Cook ground beef: Add ground beef, breaking it apart as it cooks. Season with salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning. Cook until browned and fully cooked through.
- Add sauce and pepperoni: Stir in pizza sauce and diced pepperoni. Simmer for a few minutes.
- Melt cheese: Remove from heat and stir in shredded mozzarella until melted and creamy.
- Assemble: Spoon the mixture onto toasted buns and top with extra cheese and pepperoni slices if desired. Serve warm.
Notes
- For a spicy version, add crushed red pepper flakes or use spicy pepperoni.
