- 1 cup grated mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika
- Salt to taste
Coating and Frying
- 1 egg
- 1 cup bread crumbs
- Oil for frying (about 2 cups)
Instructions
- Boil Potatoes: Peel and boil the potatoes until they are soft enough to be mashed easily, about 20 minutes.
- Mash Potatoes: Drain the boiled potatoes and mash them in a large bowl until smooth and free of lumps.
- Mix Ingredients: Add grated mozzarella cheese, all-purpose flour, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, and salt to the mashed potatoes. Mix thoroughly until a dough-like consistency forms.
- Shape Sticks: Take small portions of the mixture and shape each into a rod or stick with your hands. Repeat until all mixture is shaped.
- Prepare Egg Wash: Beat the egg in a shallow dish until smooth.
- Set Bread Crumbs: Place bread crumbs in another shallow dish.
- Coat Sticks: Dip each potato stick into the beaten egg to coat fully, then roll it in bread crumbs until covered evenly.
- Heat Oil: Heat oil in a frying pan over medium-high heat until hot enough for frying.
- Fry Sticks: Carefully place coated sticks in the hot oil and fry for 3-4 minutes, turning occasionally until golden brown and crispy on all sides.
- Drain Oil: Remove the fried sticks and place them on paper towels to absorb excess oil.
- Serve: Serve the potato cheese sticks hot with your favorite dipping sauce.
Notes
- Ensure potatoes are properly mashed to avoid lumps for a smooth dough.
- You can substitute mozzarella with any other melting cheese if desired.
- For extra crispiness, double coat the sticks by repeating the egg wash and breadcrumb step.
- Maintain medium-high heat to ensure sticks cook thoroughly without absorbing excess oil.
- These sticks are best served fresh and hot for the best texture.
