Description
These Rice Krispie Turkey Legs are a fun and creative no-bake treat, perfect for kids and festive occasions. Made with classic Rice Krispies cereal, melted marshmallows, and pretzel rods dipped in white chocolate with mini marshmallow ‘meat’ tips, they resemble miniature turkey legs that are as delicious as they are adorable.
Ingredients
Scale
For the Turkey Legs
- 8 cups Rice Krispies Cereal
- 10 oz. bag mini marshmallows (reserve 24 marshmallows for decoration)
- 1/4 cup butter
For the Pretzel Rods
- 6 Pretzel Rods, broken in half
- 1 bag white chocolate candy melts
- 24 mini marshmallows (reserved from the 10 oz bag)
Instructions
- Prepare Pretzel Rods: Break each pretzel rod in half and melt the white chocolate candy melts according to the package directions, usually by microwaving in short intervals and stirring until smooth.
- Decorate Pretzel Tips: Dip the ends of the pretzel rod halves into the melted white chocolate just at the tip. Press two mini marshmallows onto each dipped tip to create the look of turkey meat. Let these set for 5 minutes until the chocolate hardens.
- Melt Marshmallows and Butter: In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the remaining marshmallows with butter by microwaving for 1 minute. Stir well until smooth and fully combined to form a sticky base.
- Mix in Rice Krispies: Add the Rice Krispies cereal to the melted marshmallow mixture and stir until all cereal is evenly coated.
- Shape Turkey Legs: Take a handful of the Rice Krispies mixture and shape it into a ball. To prevent sticking, use gloves, butter your hands, or spray your hands with cooking spray. Press the pretzel tip into the ball and sculpt the mixture around the pretzel to resemble a turkey leg.
- Set the Treats: Place the shaped turkey legs onto wax paper and allow them to set for about 15 minutes so they can firm up before serving.
Notes
- You can store these treats in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days to keep them fresh.
- Use gloves or a light coating of cooking spray on your hands to prevent sticky mess while shaping.
- For a festive touch, drizzle extra melted white chocolate over the turkey legs after they set.
- If white chocolate candy melts are unavailable, you can substitute by melting white chocolate chips carefully to avoid burning.
