Description

Shrimp Teriyaki Steak Noodles is a flavorful Asian-inspired main course combining tender slices of flank steak, succulent shrimp, and mixed stir-fry vegetables tossed with rice noodles in a rich, sweet, and savory teriyaki sauce. This quick and easy stir-fry delivers a satisfying surf-and-turf noodle dish perfect for a nutritious weeknight dinner.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Noodles

  • 8 ounces rice noodles or lo mein noodles
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil

For the Protein

  • 1/2 pound shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1/2 pound flank steak or sirloin, thinly sliced
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil, divided

For the Vegetables & Aromatics

  • 2 cups mixed stir-fry vegetables (e.g., bell peppers, broccoli, carrots)
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated

For the Sauce

  • 1/3 cup low-sodium soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch mixed with 2 tablespoons water (slurry)

For Garnish

  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds (optional)
  • Sliced green onions

Instructions

  1. Cook the noodles: Prepare the rice or lo mein noodles according to package instructions. Drain well and toss with 1 tablespoon sesame oil to prevent sticking. Set aside.
  2. Sear the steak: Heat 1 tablespoon vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Season the thinly sliced steak with salt and pepper. Add to the pan and sear for 2 to 3 minutes until browned but still juicy. Remove from pan and set aside.
  3. Cook the shrimp: Add the remaining 1 tablespoon vegetable oil to the pan. Cook the shrimp for 1 to 2 minutes per side until they turn pink and are fully cooked. Remove and set aside with the steak.
  4. Stir-fry vegetables and aromatics: In the same pan, add the minced garlic, grated ginger, and mixed stir-fry vegetables. Cook for 4 to 5 minutes until the vegetables become tender-crisp.
  5. Prepare the teriyaki sauce: In a small bowl, whisk together the low-sodium soy sauce, honey, brown sugar, and rice vinegar. Pour this sauce into the pan with the vegetables and bring to a simmer.
  6. Thicken the sauce: Stir in the cornstarch slurry and cook for 1 to 2 minutes until the sauce thickens and becomes glossy.
  7. Combine and toss: Add the cooked noodles, seared steak, and cooked shrimp back into the pan. Toss everything together thoroughly until the noodles and proteins are well coated in the sauce and heated through.
  8. Garnish and serve: Sprinkle sesame seeds and sliced green onions over the dish before serving to add texture and flavor.

Notes

  • You can use frozen stir-fry vegetables to save time.
  • Adjust the sweetness or saltiness of the sauce to your personal preference by modifying the honey, brown sugar, or soy sauce amounts.
  • This dish works well with other noodles such as udon or soba for a different texture.
  • For a spicier version, add red pepper flakes or a dash of sriracha to the sauce.
