Beef Manhattan:

  • 2 pounds beef chuck roast
  • 1 packet onion soup mix (1 oz)
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt and black pepper to taste

Serving:

  • 8 slices thick sandwich bread
  • 4 cups prepared mashed potatoes

Gravy Thickening:

  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons water


Instructions

  1. Season and Cook Beef: Season the beef chuck roast, place in the slow cooker, add onion soup mix, beef broth, and Worcestershire sauce. Cook on low for 8 hours.
  2. Shred Beef: Remove cooked beef, shred it, and set aside.
  3. Thicken Gravy: Mix cornstarch with water, add to the slow cooker liquid, and stir until thickened. Return shredded beef to the gravy.
  4. Serve: Place a slice of bread, top with mashed potatoes, and spoon shredded beef and gravy over. Repeat for each serving.
