Ingredients

Scale

Liquid Ingredients

  • 2 cups heavy cream (454 grams)
  • 4 cups milk (908 grams)
  • 14 oz sweetened condensed milk (396 grams, 1 can)
  • 1½ cups Stoli Gluten Free Vodka (341 grams, plus more or less to taste)

Flavorings and Mix-ins

  • 1 cup pumpkin purée (227 grams, store-bought or homemade, not pumpkin pie filling)
  • 1 tbsp pumpkin pie spice (9 grams)
  • 2 cups good quality semisweet chocolate chips (283 grams, 10 oz)

Toppings

  • Marshmallows
  • Whipped cream

Instructions

  1. Combine Ingredients: Add the heavy cream, milk, sweetened condensed milk, pumpkin purée, pumpkin pie spice, and vodka to your slow cooker. Use a whisk to mix everything together thoroughly. Then, pour in the semisweet chocolate chips, allowing them to sit atop the mixture.
  2. Heat Mixture: Set the slow cooker to low heat for about 2 hours. Stir occasionally if possible. Continue cooking until the chocolate chips are fully melted and the mixture is hot and well blended to your preference.
  3. Serve: Ladle the hot chocolate into mugs and top with marshmallows or whipped cream as desired. Serve immediately for the best comforting experience.

Notes

  • The pumpkin purée should be plain pumpkin and not pumpkin pie filling to avoid added sugars and spices interfering with the flavor.
  • Adjust the amount of vodka according to your preference for strength and flavor.
  • To make it non-alcoholic, simply omit the vodka and perhaps add additional milk or cream.
  • Use a high-quality chocolate to ensure a smooth, rich taste.
  • Keep stirring occasionally during cooking if your slow cooker tends to separate liquids.
  • This recipe serves about 8 generous drinks.
