Description

This Sticky Honey Chicken recipe features tender, juicy chicken breasts cooked in a sweet and savory honey soy glaze with a hint of ginger and garlic. Perfect for a quick dinner, the skillet-cooked chicken is coated in a sticky sauce and garnished with sesame seeds for extra flavor and texture.

Ingredients

Scale

Chicken

  • 4 boneless chicken breasts

Sauce

  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)

Garnish

  • Sesame seeds, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Sauce: In a small bowl, whisk together honey, soy sauce, rice vinegar, olive oil, minced garlic, ground ginger, and red pepper flakes if using. This creates a perfect balance of sweet, tangy, and spicy flavors.
  2. Cook the Chicken: Heat a skillet over medium heat and place the boneless chicken breasts in it. Cook for about 5-7 minutes on each side, until the chicken is golden brown and cooked through, reaching an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C).
  3. Add the Sauce: Pour the prepared honey sauce over the cooked chicken in the skillet. Reduce heat to low and simmer for 2-3 minutes, stirring occasionally to allow the sauce to thicken and evenly coat the chicken pieces.
  4. Garnish & Serve: Once the sauce is sticky and clings to the chicken, sprinkle with sesame seeds. Serve immediately, ideal alongside steamed rice or your favorite vegetables for a complete meal.

Notes

  • For extra spice, increase the amount of red pepper flakes or add a dash of sriracha.
  • Use skinless chicken thighs instead of breasts if preferred for more flavor and moistness.
  • Make sure not to overcrowd the skillet to allow even cooking and browning.
  • Can be easily doubled for larger groups.
  • Leftovers store well in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
