Description

A refreshing and vibrant Strawberry Basil Margarita made with fresh strawberries, aromatic basil, smooth tequila, and a touch of agave syrup, perfect for a summer cocktail that’s both fruity and herbaceous.

Ingredients

Scale

Fruit & Herbs

  • 1 cup sliced fresh strawberries
  • 6 fresh basil leaves
  • Strawberry slices (for garnish)
  • Basil leaves (for garnish)

Liquids & Spirits

  • ¼ cup agave syrup (2 ounces)
  • ½ cup tequila (4 ounces), silver or blanco preferred
  • ¼ cup fresh lime juice (2 ounces)

Other

  • Lime wedge and sea salt (to rim the glass)
  • Ice

Instructions

  1. Muddle Strawberries and Basil: In a cocktail shaker, add the sliced strawberries and agave syrup, then muddle them together to release the strawberry juices. Add the fresh basil leaves and continue muddling until the basil releases its aromatic oils and flavors into the mixture.
  2. Combine with Liquids: Pour in the tequila and fresh lime juice into the shaker. Seal and shake vigorously to blend all the ingredients and chill the mixture evenly.
  3. Prepare Glasses: Rub a lime wedge around the rims of the serving glasses and dip them into sea salt to coat, creating a flavorful and classic margarita rim.
  4. Serve: Fill the salted glasses with ice, strain the margarita mixture over the ice, and garnish with additional strawberry slices and fresh basil leaves to elevate the presentation and aroma.

Notes

  • Use silver or blanco tequila for a clean, crisp flavor.
  • Adjust the agave syrup quantity to your preferred sweetness.
  • For a stronger basil flavor, add a few more leaves when muddling.
  • Rimming the glass with salt is optional but enhances the overall taste.
  • Use fresh lime juice instead of bottled for the best flavor.
