Ingredients
Scale
Base Layer
- 1 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 2 cups graham cracker crumbs
- 2 cups powdered sugar
- 1 cup creamy peanut butter
Chocolate Topping
- 1½ cups semisweet chocolate chips
- ¼ cup creamy peanut butter (for topping)
Instructions
- Prepare the base mixture: In a large bowl, mix together the melted butter, graham cracker crumbs, powdered sugar, and 1 cup of creamy peanut butter until the mixture is well combined and smooth.
- Press into the pan: Press the peanut butter mixture evenly into the bottom of a 9×13-inch baking dish lined with parchment paper or lightly greased to prevent sticking.
- Make the chocolate topping: In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the semisweet chocolate chips and ¼ cup creamy peanut butter. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring between each, until the mixture is melted and smooth.
- Spread the chocolate layer: Pour the melted chocolate and peanut butter mixture over the peanut butter base and spread it evenly with a spatula for a smooth finish.
- Chill to set: Place the baking dish in the refrigerator and chill for at least 2 hours or until the bars are firm to the touch.
- Slice and serve: Once set, remove from the fridge, slice into 24 bars, and serve chilled or at room temperature for the best texture.
Notes
- For a crunchier texture, stir in crushed pretzels or chopped peanuts into the base layer before pressing it into the pan.
- Use natural peanut butter for a slightly less sweet and more natural flavor profile.
- Store bars in the refrigerator for up to 1 week or freeze for longer storage.
