Description

A delicious Turkey Melt featuring layers of white cheddar cheese, fresh baby spinach, tomato, and crispy bacon sandwiched between slices of sourdough bread with a tangy honey mustard spread. Perfectly pan-toasted to golden brown perfection for a satisfying and easy-to-make lunch or dinner.

Ingredients

Scale

Bread & Spreads

  • 4 slices sourdough bread
  • 2 tablespoons honey mustard
  • 2 tablespoons softened butter

Filling

  • 2 slices white cheddar cheese
  • 4 slices deli turkey
  • 1 medium red tomato, thinly sliced
  • ½ cup fresh baby spinach
  • 4 strips cooked bacon

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Bread: Spread honey mustard evenly on one side of each slice of sourdough bread to add a tangy flavor base for the sandwich.
  2. Assemble the Sandwich: On two slices of the bread, mustard side up, layer a slice of white cheddar cheese, two slices of deli turkey, a few slices of tomato, a handful of fresh baby spinach, and two strips of cooked bacon each.
  3. Close the Sandwich: Top each assembled sandwich with the remaining bread slices, mustard side down, creating two complete sandwiches.
  4. Heat the Skillet: Place a skillet over medium heat and add the softened butter, allowing it to melt and coat the pan evenly to prevent sticking and add flavor.
  5. Cook the Sandwiches: Place the sandwiches in the skillet and cook for 4 to 5 minutes on one side until the bread is golden brown and crispy. Carefully flip the sandwiches and cook the other side for another 4-5 minutes until the cheese melts and both sides are crisp.
  6. Serve: Remove the sandwiches from the skillet, let them cool slightly for a couple of minutes to ensure the filling sets, then cut each sandwich in half and serve warm.

Notes

  • For extra meltiness, cover the skillet with a lid during the last few minutes of cooking.
  • Use turkey breast slices for a leaner option.
  • Optionally, add sliced avocado or a dash of black pepper for extra flavor.
  • Serve with a side salad or chips for a complete meal.
