Ingredients
Scale
Bread & Spreads
- 4 slices sourdough bread
- 2 tablespoons honey mustard
- 2 tablespoons softened butter
Filling
- 2 slices white cheddar cheese
- 4 slices deli turkey
- 1 medium red tomato, thinly sliced
- ½ cup fresh baby spinach
- 4 strips cooked bacon
Instructions
- Prepare the Bread: Spread honey mustard evenly on one side of each slice of sourdough bread to add a tangy flavor base for the sandwich.
- Assemble the Sandwich: On two slices of the bread, mustard side up, layer a slice of white cheddar cheese, two slices of deli turkey, a few slices of tomato, a handful of fresh baby spinach, and two strips of cooked bacon each.
- Close the Sandwich: Top each assembled sandwich with the remaining bread slices, mustard side down, creating two complete sandwiches.
- Heat the Skillet: Place a skillet over medium heat and add the softened butter, allowing it to melt and coat the pan evenly to prevent sticking and add flavor.
- Cook the Sandwiches: Place the sandwiches in the skillet and cook for 4 to 5 minutes on one side until the bread is golden brown and crispy. Carefully flip the sandwiches and cook the other side for another 4-5 minutes until the cheese melts and both sides are crisp.
- Serve: Remove the sandwiches from the skillet, let them cool slightly for a couple of minutes to ensure the filling sets, then cut each sandwich in half and serve warm.
Notes
- For extra meltiness, cover the skillet with a lid during the last few minutes of cooking.
- Use turkey breast slices for a leaner option.
- Optionally, add sliced avocado or a dash of black pepper for extra flavor.
- Serve with a side salad or chips for a complete meal.
