Ingredients
Scale
Fries
- 1 (20-ounce) bag frozen seasoned French fries
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
Sausage & Veggie Topping
- 1/2 pound andouille sausage, sliced
- 1/2 cup diced bell pepper (red or green)
- 1/4 cup diced red onion
- 1 garlic clove, minced
- 1/2 teaspoon Cajun seasoning
Cheese & Garnishes
- 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/2 cup shredded pepper jack cheese
- 1/4 cup ranch dressing
- 1 tablespoon hot sauce (such as Louisiana or Crystal)
- 2 tablespoons chopped green onions
- 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley
Instructions
- Preheat and Bake Fries: Preheat the oven to 425°F. Bake the frozen seasoned French fries according to the package instructions until they are golden and crispy.
- Cook Sausage: While the fries bake, heat the olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add the sliced andouille sausage and cook until browned, about 5 to 7 minutes.
- Sauté Vegetables: Add diced bell pepper, red onion, and minced garlic to the skillet with the sausage. Sauté the mixture for 3 to 4 minutes until the vegetables are softened.
- Add Cajun Seasoning: Sprinkle the Cajun seasoning over the sausage and vegetable mixture and stir well to coat everything evenly with the spices.
- Assemble and Melt Cheese: Once fries are done, transfer them to an oven-safe skillet or casserole dish. Top the fries with the sausage and vegetable mixture. Sprinkle evenly with shredded cheddar and pepper jack cheeses. Place back in the oven for 5 to 7 minutes until the cheese has melted and is bubbly.
- Finish and Garnish: Remove from the oven and drizzle with ranch dressing and hot sauce. Garnish with chopped green onions and fresh parsley. Serve immediately for the best taste and texture.
Notes
- Add chopped pickled jalapeños for extra heat or drizzle with Creole mustard for a tangy twist.
- Use tater tots instead of fries for a fun variation.
- For a meatless option, replace sausage with sautéed mushrooms or plant-based sausage.
